Gourmet Night in the Trailer Park!

If Julie can post Tomato Mac & Cheese, then Hot Dog Boats are a go!!

Growing up in my house while Becky and Fam lived with us meant we each had a night to cook. You could almost bet money that on my night we'd be enjoying Hot Dog Boats! This is probably my favorite of my "kid meals." I actually get mad if Walter doesn't eat at least 3! So, if you have a lot of hot dogs, and no buns, or you just want something different, here it is! Hopefully my hi-tech, high class cooking talk doesn't confuse you. If you do get all confused, just ask any 3 year old for help!

First you take a hot dog, after boiling it for a little bit slice it as if it were a bun. Then make some potatoes. They can be instant or the real deal. Slop some in the hot dog of a bun. Then pile on the cheese. Turn on the broiler, slide it in the oven and melt the cheese. Voila! Dinner in 10 minutes or less!

*Disclaimer: The title of this post is just creative, that's it. It does not imply that those who live in trailer parks eat bad or non-gourmet food. In fact, some of my favorite food has come out of trailers, made with love by those who are dear to my heart. All's I'm sayin is...I thought the title was cute!

As I was posting tomato mac, I seriously considered a post of hotdog boats. They are also one of my favs. We don't boil the dogs at all, just stick in the microwave. LOVE IT!!

We used to have this all the time as a kid, I love it. This is the first time I've ever heard of anyone else making them though. They are now one of my kids' favorites, too. We just slice the hot dogs, put mashed potatoes over them, and top them with cheese and cook everything together in the oven though. Yummy!
